Duty Station: Kigoma

The Belgian Development Agency, BTC, mobilizes its resources and its expertise to eliminate poverty in the world. BTC contributes to the efforts of the international community and works towards a society that provides present and future generations with sufficient resources to build a sustainable and fair world.
The SAKIRP project aims to support agricultural development in Kigoma through a pro-poor value chain approach. The Overall objective is: Local economic development and wellbeing of smallholders is improved in Kigoma region through sustainable agriculture development. The Specific objective is: Smallholders' income is increased and diversified in Kigoma region. The project will facilitate value chain development (Cassava & Beans) through organizing and empowering smallholders and linking them with traders, facilitating value chain financing, strengthening value chain service provision, market intelligence and multi stakeholder processes. Gender equity in the development of value chains will be of great emphasis.
The 5-year project will start in July 2016. Project's coordination team is based at the Kigoma Regional Secretariat, led by a National Project Coordinator from RS office and a BTC employed International Project Manager. The coordination team will further comprise of 4 BTC employed National Technical Advisors, One International advisor, and several international and national support staff. In each district in Kigoma there shall be a project District focal person (DFP) appointed by DED. Now, BTC seeks to recruit for the above mentioned National Technical Advisors and Administration & Finance Officer for the Project Implementation Unit (PIU).
Expected Starting Date: 1st July 2016; Duration: 4 years

Ensure gender issues are taken into account in project and value chain planning, monitoring and evaluation. Enhance gender mainstreaming in the value chains in collaboration with PIU, regional district and other implementing partners and service providers. Ensure capacity building and hands-on support to all chain actors.
