The Arusha Urban Water Supply and Sanitation Authority (AUWSA) is a legally established entity responsible for the overall
operations and management of water supply and sanitation services in Arusha City. It is among ofthe best Authorities in Tanzania.
The core function of the Authority is to deliver excellent water supply and sanitation services for all categories of customers and
stakeholders in Arusha City,
In order to attain its vision and mission, AUWSA is seeking to recruit dynamic, experienced, competent and qualified Tanzanians
to fill the following vacant posts within the Authority's establishment
CUSTOMER BILLING OFFICER: (1 Vacant Post)
2.1 Appointing Authority: Management Committee.
2.2 Reports To: Customer Services Manager.
2.3 Minimum Required Qualifications and Experience:
The successful applicant must be / have:
• Holder of Form IV / VI certificate.
• Holder of Degree in Commerce (B.Com)/ Advanced Diploma in Business Administration, Marketing, Economics /
Economic Planning/Statistics or equivalent qualifications from a recognize1nstitution.
• A Postgraduate qualification is an added advantage.
• Must have not less than five years of relevant experience in similar functions .
• Should have a strong background in legal matters related to water utilities as well as have analytical skills, broad
minded, creative, unquestionable integrity and must have good command of both oral and written Kiswahili
and English languages.
• Computer skills are essential.
2.4 Employment Terms: Three years Contract - Renewable upon satisfactorily performance.
2.5 Main Duties & Responsibilities: '
i. The head of the' Section responsible for accurate meter readings, precise data entry and billing. I
ii. Initiate, co ordinate and supervise the whole process of meter readings capturing, verifications,
proof readings and corrections before bill run.
iii. Ensure all active customer's meters are read and in time
iv. Facilitate timely and correct preparation of Customer bills.
v. Ensure precise and accurate input of meter readings/ data entry into the billing system.
vi. Ensure several mock runs of bill processing are carried out before final run. Hence printing of bill
invoices.
vii. Responsible for verification of meter readings for customers with complaints that request periodic
adjustments of their bills. Hence reviews and approves customer credits for validity/reasonableness
viii. Assists customers in understanding statements/invoices .
ix. Ensure proper registrations of new customer particulars in the billing' system.
x. Collecting, documenting Customer particulars/Meter status with problems or changes, as they
are reported from the site and taking measures to rectify them and finally updating in the billing
system. '
xi. Administrates the preparation and delivery of Customer statements/invoices to customers hence
making sure that customers who come with no original invoices are serviced at the front office.
xii. Follows up and takes appropriate action to resolve discrepancies and/or dispute with customers.
xiii. Making sure that the printed bill invoices are dispatched / delivered to customers on time.
xiv. Preparations of the various reports of the billing section to the management and other related
reports of the performance indicators.
xv. Collaborate with the ICT Unit in providing status of the AUWSA debtors from the Customer
database.
xvi. Performing any other duties as may be assigned by the Customer Service Manager
